“My mother worked as a house help and went to a great deal to bring us into this world. I remember back in the day when we were extremely poverty-stricken and we had to face a lot of difficulties to get from one day to another. It was a hard period but for everything that my mother went through, I and my brother were determined to make her proud!
Having studied in a government school, I worked hard to clear all India JEE exams. But despite the scores, I didn’t want to leave my mom back here. So I enrolled for a Chemical Engineering degree in one of the reputed institutions here in Chennai and went ahead to become the department topper there.
All the hard work of the years paid off and I began work in a reputed company in Chennai. But beyond these, I could sense that I had a deep desire burning inside me. As someone who had used cosmetic products for my own self, it perplexed me to see that despite the heavy cost of these products, they hardly gave us the desired results that they promised.
Propelled by this curiosity to try and experiment with organic and affordable products, my own venture took shape – what we now call ‘Yaazh’. Since my mother had given up her work, she had more time to work on these compositions with me. What followed were months and months of scouring through research papers and trying to make products that were entirely organic but also affordable.
One of the main motives for me behind my venture was to make products that were affordable for everyone. I know that I make far less profit than any other venture but we are not in here for the money. The testimonials and the wonderful feedback I receive from my clients are reward enough for me. So many of my clients write to me saying that my products helped them get rid of chronic issues that they were facing.
Nothing comes easy in this world. We are all operating from our own unique worlds but the one thing that has really helped me overcome everything is my own determination. The fact that if I can put my heart and soul into something, it would someday come back to me when out in the desert was the sole idea that helped me push through all the turbulances. The journey has just commenced but up till here, it has been one hell of a ride.”
