“I was born in a small village near Pudukkottai, in Ponnamaravathi, where life was simple and distances were long. With just three houses around us, even basic things like a shop or school were kilometres away. We walked through fields and forests for everything, and that was normal for us.
I come from a farming family with two elder sisters and a younger brother. When I chose to step into the media field, it was not a common path for someone from my background. People spoke, they assumed, they questioned. But my father never hesitated. He stood by me and said, If this is her path, let her walk it. That support made all the difference.
Chennai entered my life as a challenge, but it stayed as a teacher. The city did not make things easy, but it gave me space to work, learn and grow. Marriage did not stop my journey. It strengthened my belief that women do not need permission to continue building their lives.
Many young women come to Chennai with doubts about safety, work and belonging. I do not call myself an inspiration, but if my story says anything, it is this: you do not need to start with certainty. You only need to start.
I did not come here to prove a point. I came here to build a life. And if one more girl finds courage in that, then that is enough for me.”
