“Some people are born into opportunity. Others create it. With no entrepreneurial lineage behind me, I chose to become the first in my entire family to build a business and stand firmly behind it.
I was born and brought up in Chennai and, like many others, enrolled in one of the city’s reputed schools. Despite putting in effort, I was a slow learner.
I passed my 10th board with a decent score, and when it was time to choose a stream, commerce felt like the safest option. Accounts, however, changed everything.
To my surprise, I began performing well, consistently ranking at the top of my class during high school and eventually winning the ‘All-Rounder Of The Year’ award in high school. That moment felt like redemption.
Right after my 10th board exam, I started a small silk thread business and earned about 7k, my first income, and it sparked my interest in business.
I then joined B.com and during placements, I was the only student from my college to receive two job offers, one being a full-time role at a travel company and the other a part-time role as an alt text writer. I chose the part-time role and continued working while completing my degree.
Soon after, I joined GUVI through a LinkedIn opportunity and handled their entire social media operations and then moved to Hexon Global as a product marketing manager. Although my career progressed rapidly, the routine drained my enthusiasm.
Wanting more from life, I began freelancing in digital marketing. As referrals grew and clients expanded to actresses, business owners, and international brands, I took the leap and started my own company, Stalk Marketing and Events.
Today, we have worked with over 90+ clients, handled more than 100+ social media accounts and websites, and trained over 800+ students in digital marketing. What began as a one woman effort is now a growing team. Along the way, I also took up emceeing and worked with brands like Amazon Prime, Tata Motors and the Government of Tamilnadu.
I am now the first person in my family to own a registered business. I have travelled to multiple countries and I love to trek. I’ve learned to enjoy life as it comes.
If there is one thing this journey has taught me, it is that belief and patience can rewrite any beginning!”
