“I’m a proper city-bred Chennai girl, born and brought up here. For six years, I worked as a software engineer. And to be honest, they were six painful years. Every day felt heavier than the last, because deep down I knew I was living a life that wasn’t mine.
At 27, when most people choose stability, I chose courage. I finally quit my job to pursue what I was truly passionate about teaching children. Starting over was terrifying, but I kept telling myself that you have your whole life ahead to explore and rebuild. Chennai has plenty of opportunities to offer me too, and I trusted the city to meet me halfway.
Teaching children has taught me patience, presence, and the beauty of small wins. Some days are uncertain, but most days feel meaningful in a way I had never experienced before.
Whenever I feel chaotic at heart, I go to Besant Nagar Beach. The sound of the waves and a cup of hot chocolate from Golden Hot Chocolate is all I need to slow down and breathe.
What I love the most is the warmth of our city and how it stays true to “Vandharai Vazha Vaikkum Chennai” welcoming people with an embrace. There is comfort in knowing that no matter how many times you fall or start over, this city quietly stands by you.
I am still finding myself. But staying in Chennai, the place I call home, makes this journey feel safe, hopeful, and a whole lot better.”
