“I grew up in Chennai, and music slowly found me before I even knew what to call it. I’m an independent musician today, completely self-taught. I didn’t grow up surrounded by musicians, jam rooms, or a circle that spoke the language of chords and scales. Most of my learning happened alone, in quiet rooms, through trial, error, and an obsession with getting better than I was yesterday.
There were moments of doubt, of course. When you don’t have a community around you, you learn to become your own biggest motivator. Inspiration came in fragments, from artists I admired, from sounds that stayed with me, and from the simple urge to express what words couldn’t. Somewhere along the way, I realised that trying to be like someone else never worked. Trying to be the best version of myself did.
The real turning point came when I performed my first song on the guitar. I still remember the applause. It wasn’t just noise, it was validation. That moment told me that what I was feeling inside could travel outward and touch people. That was when I knew music wasn’t just a passion. It was the path I wanted to walk.
Chennai plays a huge role in who I am. Just being in the city gives me happiness and confidence. The streets, the people, the everyday chaos, and calm all of it puts a smile on my face. Chennai lets me be myself, and in return, it keeps my music honest.
I’m still learning. Still evolving. But every note I play carries the city that raised me, believed in me, and quietly continues to push me forward.”
