“Sometimes the journey we least expect leads us exactly where we’re meant to be!
I’m a paediatric dentist based in Chennai, where I was born, raised, and educated. Like many aspiring doctors, I entered dentistry with curiosity and hope. After completing my BDS, I started as a general practitioner.

But I found myself unsure of the next step!

That’s when I joined an apprenticeship under my professor which inspired me to pursue my masters in dentistry. I’ve always loved being around kids, I knew paediatric dentistry was my calling and that decision changed everything. After my masters, I began practising at a clinic that focused on infants with tongue-tie and breastfeeding challenges. In a twist of fate, my own son was born with a tongue-tie, and I too struggled with breastfeeding. Life had a way of reinforcing that I was exactly where I needed to be.

With every mother and child I worked with, it felt like I was building more than just a patient list , I was building a family. Over the years, my approach has grown more empathetic and intuitive. Children under six often come in scared, anxious, and tearful. But I’ve made it my mission to bond with them, make them feel safe, and respect their emotions. Each child has taught me something new, reminding me that no two cases are ever the same.

Four months ago, I started my own clinic – Giggles and Grins in Adyar, Chennai. We recently treated a child with severe needle phobia and seeing him leave with a confident smile reaffirmed why I started this journey. At my clinic, children are free to cry, laugh, express and just be themselves. I’ve created a space where dental care feels safe and even joyful.

None of this would have been possible without my incredible support system, especially my husband, who’s stood beside me through every step of this journey. There has never been any gender roles in our home and when my job has demanded more out of me , my husband always filled in for me. Our families have also been of great help.

After 8 years of practice, I’ve realised, no industry is saturated when you bring heart, value, and authenticity to your work. When you offer the best of yourself, you won’t just survive , you’ll thrive and the smiles you create will light the way forward!”
