“I’m Suba, born and brought up in the quieter edges of Chennai, in a little neighbourhood called Thirumullaivoyal. Most people know this city by its beaches and buzz, but for me, Chennai was always in the small things, the early mornings spent on crowded buses, the calm of city lights during late-night rides, and the silent dreams I carried in my backpack between home, college, and work.

By profession, I started off in finance. It was safe, steady, structured, everything a career is supposed to be. But somewhere between the spreadsheets and deadlines, I realised I was slowly losing myself.

The turning point came from my brother, whom I lovingly call Chithappa. One day, he told me, “You can save all you want, worry all you want… but don’t forget to live, Suba.” That line stayed. It reminded me that life isn’t meant to be ticked off like a checklist, it’s meant to be felt, to be lived, to build something that makes your heart light up.

And that’s how Twinkle by Suba was born. Not just a jewellery brand, but a piece of my heart, an idea that grew quietly between my 9 to 5 hours until it finally found its wings.

Today, I’m a first-generation entrepreneur, still based in Chennai, still learning every single day, but this time, on my own terms. I haven’t travelled the world yet, but I’ve travelled deep within this city and within myself. And that’s where I found my magic.
