“I was born and brought up in Chennai, and becoming a gynaecologist was never a coincidence.
From as early as first grade, I somehow knew this was the path I wanted to take. My parents often spoke with deep gratitude about the doctor who brought me into this world, and listening to that admiration as a child quietly planted a dream in me. Over time, that dream only grew stronger.
I went on to complete my Master’s in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Sri Ramachandra Medical College, where I was fortunate to receive two gold medals. But honestly, awards were never the goal. What truly drives me is the love I have for my subject and for my patients. No matter how my day begins or what mood I’m in, the moment I step into work and care for even one patient, everything else fades away. That’s how deeply I love what I do.
Beyond medicine, I find joy in movement and creativity. Badminton, yoga, zumba, crochet, embroidery, painting, and continuing my journey with music all keep me grounded.
I am who I am today because of the people around me. My parents and family who would do anything for me. My husband, who is my strongest pillar of support. My friends, who are my constant hype squad. And my mentor, who continues to guide me with wisdom and kindness.
Life has reshaped me at every stage. Becoming a doctor taught me responsibility and humility. Meeting my husband changed how I look at people and life. And becoming a mother to a beautiful baby boy has shifted my world in the most gentle, powerful way possible.
Madras is home. Always has been. Especially Mylapore, where I’ve lived for over 30 years. The streets around Kapaleeshwarar and Sai Baba temples hold my heart. I still remember my father holding my hand, taking me to the temple, buying prasadham. Those simple moments remain some of my happiest memories.
I also find immense peace by the sea. Marina and Besant Nagar beaches have been my quiet companions through different phases of life. Walks, deep conversations, moments of healing, and times when the waves helped calm thoughts I couldn’t put into words.
This city gave me my roots, my friendships, comfort for my chaos, joy in small moments, and my purpose. I never once questioned where I wanted to build my future. I wouldn’t trade Chennai for anything.
Chennai raised me, held me, and continues to shape the woman, doctor, and mother I am becoming every day.”
