“What if one simple belief that learning should feel like magic could change the future of thousands of children? That belief is where my journey began.
I come from a family of teachers, and that love for teaching naturally shaped me. Although my roots are in Vizag, I studied in Chennai and later graduated as an Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineer from Hindusthan University. After working briefly as a junior assistant, I found myself drawn to a new idea connected to STEAM education, which was still unfamiliar to most people in India at that time.
To understand the field better, I volunteered at a company and slowly built the confidence to take a larger step. I approached them for a franchise and soon launched it in Vizag. It ran successfully, and I even published books and papers through UNESCO. However, I still felt the desire to create something that reflected my own vision.
This is how GEMS was founded in 2020!
It began as my passion project to make STEAM learning fun, accessible, and affordable for every child. I trained under the renowned toy maker Aravind Gupta and built GEMS on one mission and that is to spark curiosity. My mother, a government school teacher, taught her students through stories and my favorite Maths teacher, Mr Sasidhar, brought us together through stories. They are my source of inspiration.
Today, over 55,000 families trust us. We’ve conducted more than 180 workshops, expanding from Vizag, Vijayawada, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and coming to my second home, Chennai next year. We even created international shows for children. Our GEMS Kids Carnival is India’s first fully STEAM-based carnival with no stale volcano models, but real experiments, imagination, and wonder.
At GEMS the first thing we teach is to ask when, where, and why. Many children fear asking questions because they grow up memorising rather than understanding. We changed that approach.
My family has been my backbone, from my parents, who inspired me, to my husband, who now manages the team and marketing despite working as a scientist at ISRO. Despite his demanding career, he still comes home, energised to help lead the team.
To every young entrepreneur, my message is simple: listen. Listen to your customers, step onto the field yourself, and let your work speak louder than assumptions. In the end, talent and perseverance always speaks volumes.”
