“The most beautiful chapters often begin with a woman who chose herself.
Born into a simple and beautiful family in Tirupur, life had its own way of showing me how strong I truly was.
As the first grandchild, I grew up adored yet fiercely stubborn. When I chose to move to Chennai, I promised myself that I would build an identity that people would never forget.
Leaving a place where everyone knew us made me realise how big the world was and how much harder I had to work to earn my space in it.
My journey to entrepreneurship began from a place of restlessness. Even though I tried different paths, nothing felt like home until the day I walked past a tiny vacant shop. Something about that little 100 square foot room called out to me.
Coming from a textile family, fashion had always been a part of who I was. I loved creating outfits, styling myself and dreaming of possibilities. That is what blossomed into my first venture, ‘Turquoise Design Studio’.
I rented the space, found skilled tailors and sourced fabrics that felt like stories waiting to be worn. We specialised in bridal wear and bespoke designs.
What began as a small dream quickly turned into something much bigger. Our first pop-up was a turning point and seven months later, we grew from a single room to a 1500 square foot studio.
Was it all easy? Definitely not.
I went through a difficult marriage and battled financial setbacks, but each challenge only made me stronger!
A while later, to strengthen my base, I studied fashion in London and returned with deeper clarity. Soon after, I launched ‘Merasal’. From brides to everyday style, we now create clothing for every occasion.
We built a loyal community of clients who loved us wholeheartedly and supported us like family. Their affection, gifts and trust reminded me that this was more than business.
Life rewarded me again when love found its way back to me. I remarried, built a happy home and welcomed my daughter, Ganga. Through every chapter, I built a happier version of myself.
Strength grows in silence, success grows in perseverance and every dream becomes possible when you just refuse to stop!”
