“What if the path you’re meant to follow is the one you create for yourself?
I chose to be different right from the very beginning. As an engineering graduate in Electronics and Communication, I stepped into the automotive industry early in my career, working with companies like Mahindra and Ashok Leyland, a path not commonly pursued by women, yet one where I truly found my passion and purpose.
At the same time, I was never someone who confined myself to just one interest. From a young age, my parents encouraged me to explore beyond academics, enrolling me in painting, calligraphy classes, and even badminton, nurturing a creative side that I always knew I would return to someday.
When I moved to Chennai for work, I discovered a vibrant city filled with weekend workshops and creative communities. A reel about one such art workshop sparked a quiet dream in me, a thought that someday I, too, would teach and share my skills with others.
The turning point came during the COVID lockdown, when I used the time to refine my artistic abilities and learn new crafts like crocheting, punch needle techniques, and stitching. Then I approached various art studios across the city with my handmade samples, seeking opportunities to collaborate. It was during this journey that I realised the importance of having an online presence.
Thus, “Whimsy Wonders” was born on Instagram!
Building this venture opened my eyes to an entirely new world, where I not only created art but also learned content creation, audience engagement, and the nuances of digital marketing. Today, I specialise in crocheting, punch needle art, calligraphy, canvas painting, hand-pressed pottery and even chenille flowers with growing demand for my products and workshops.
What brings me the greatest joy is teaching, guiding students from beginners to advanced levels and helping them turn their skills into businesses of their own. Watching them succeed is deeply fulfilling.
I owe this journey to my parents, whose unwavering support and encouragement laid the foundation for everything I am today. In a world driven by money, I find true satisfaction in doing what I love, and I aspire to one day make this passion my full-time purpose.
I didn’t just follow a path, I created one where passion meets purpose and this is only the beginning of turning what I love into a life I truly own!”
