“The ones who come out of their homes and comfort zones to pursue education and jobs will have hearts set in two different places. Growing in the small town of Erode, I had always longed to be a part of the city with its bustling energy and spirit. Completing my schooling in Erode, I joined one of the colleges in my town to finish my degree. It was during this time that my peers and I took it upon ourselves to hunt down opportunities and pave a path for ourselves. We started by keeping a keen lookout for college symposiums and national seminars we were eligible to apply for and participated, braving our inhibitions. We used to travel regularly to attend these symposiums and we even won a few accolades. The initial days were a testing period because we were brought up in a typical town with limited exposure to the outside world and it was a great ordeal to overcome the fear and the anxiety. We were not blind to the fact that our communication skills were lacking heavily but thankfully, it never deterred us from trying. We, as a batch, were very supportive of each other, with just one ultimate goal. To participate and give our best shot. Upon graduation, we nailed down few internships in the city with the help of our college staff and now, I have landed a good job here in the city, which feels like a dream come true. One of the best things about the city which I have come to love is the ease with which we can commute between places – be it the metro or the local trains. I can’t compare the city to my town because they are mutually exclusive – the pure air and the green fields of my hometown are hard to come by in the city but again, the city has its own way of making people fall in love with it.”
