“Born and raised in Chennai, I have a special fondness for this city. Although I am a North Indian and speak broken Tamil, it’s never been a hindrance for me to connect with the people here. The way this city has battled everything from Tsunami to floods, to now Corona, teaches me how to maintain a positive attitude towards life.
Writing has been my way of embracing reality, dreaming about the future and coming to terms with the past. In an attempt to spread that positivity is how I got into the habit of writing one-liner messages. I used to religiously send it out to all my contacts for five years. While the aim was to inspire and lift the spirits of at least one person, I did get a few negative inputs too. But I keep working undeterred, because you never know how one positive thought, word of encouragement or smile could lift someone’s spirits. I believe that simple things become great when you believe.
Life is all about finding that inspiration and spreading the positive spirit. Even Chennai is all about that. I met some of the most amazing and inspiring people here. People from all walks of life, who know that the city is more than just an address to them, it’s an integral part of their heart and existence. I was earlier working as a photographer for the Milaap and then went on to set up my own startup company called Grow, which is an online branding agency and I have been working with a lot of big brands, startups, and agencies. During this process, I got to observe how people here are hardworking and optimistic, unlike most other places. Indeed vandharai vazhavaikum Chennai.”
