“During a telephonic conversation with a friend, whose wife is a wheelchair user, told Mr.Bala Siva that his wife hadn’t touched the beach water besides being in Chennai for 50 years.
This inspired Mr.Bala Siva to start Able Aura in 2021, determined to bring joy and movement to people and children facing similar challenges. Able Aura was started as a platform dedicated to supporting persons and children with disabilities.
They both together decided that everything should be accessible to persons with disabilities, and if that’s not the case, they will pitch in to try to solve the problem there.
Able Aura began as a digital platform providing products and services for people with disabilities. The focus remained technology-driven, but the founders soon realized a larger societal gap – a lack of access to sports for people with cognitive or locomotor disabilities. Many parents were unaware of the benefits of sports for their children, unaware that specialized sports centers existed to help them.
To bridge this gap, Able Aura began offering coaching in sports like hockey, football, and more, specifically designed for children and individuals with disabilities. Today, the organization has five centers in Chennai and two in Bangalore, serving over 200 children and individuals. Sports not only provide physical activity but also help calm the mind, improve sleep, and bring structure and routine to daily life.
Able Aura goes beyond sports, offering doorstep education so children with special needs can learn from the comfort of their homes. With a dedicated team of over five coaches, volunteers, and an empowerment team, Able Aura is committed to fostering a sense of inclusion, independence, and confidence in every individual they serve.
The founders’ vision through Able Aura is simple yet profound – to create a world where everyone, regardless of their abilities, can find joy in movement, education, and a sense of belonging.
