“As I reflect on my journey, I am amazed by the twists and turns that have led me to where I stand today.
With a background in visual communication, I initially found myself immersed in the world of graphic design. I was in a territory where creativity flowed freely, but it soon became apparent that my aspirations extended beyond the confines of design.
Venturing into the radio industry, I adopted a new role as an RJ at Hello FM. The airwaves became my canvas, and I painted stories with words and melodies. Yet, even amidst the buzz of the studio, I sensed a yearning for something more substantial. And so, I took a leap of faith into the realm of journalism, joining the esteemed ranks of the Times of India.
Over a decade ago, these career transitions may have seemed like mere professional shifts, but each experience left a lasting mark on my journey. There were moments when I felt like a stranger in my own workplace, struggling with self-doubt and uncertainty.
My journey took an unexpected turn when I entered the corporate world, finding my place in companies like Cognizant and Paypal. Shifting happened yet another time in the field of technology and coding, and I found myself drawn to the complexity of algorithms and innovation. I loved to embrace the opportunity to expand my skill set.
But one positive note here – every time I shifted domains, I learned something new. And before shifting to another domain, I made sure that I was strong enough to handle anything. Maybe we could say that I liked challenges – for real!
Amongst all the hustle and bustle, I became a mother of a girl child at 23, and it, of course, frightened me back then. In a society where marriage and motherhood were often seen as the ultimate goals, I struggled with feelings of inadequacy and comparison. Yet, my partner, more than being a husband, became my friend. My daughter became my guiding light. But now, I feel like the universe has pushed me in the right direction.
As I approached the milestone of turning 30, I decided to step away from the corporate ladder. With a toddler in life and a supportive husband by my side, I accepted the adventure of entrepreneurship.
During my PayPal times, I used to visit the USA quite often, and that’s when I noticed young girls being unaware or careless of pregnancy, not knowing if they were doing the right thing.
They used to eat unhealthy food, do random stuff. If a Developed country like the US had this problem, I was wondering about small villages in India. This was almost a decade ago. Women were not aware of their own bodies and they kept producing babies who grew up to be a harm to society. I wanted to break this chain. We already have a lot of fertility centers. But where’s the personalized education? What’s the right treatment?
I founded Mind & Mom – a venture born out of a deep-seated desire to empower women and break the cycle of ignorance surrounding motherhood. Inspired by my experiences abroad, where I witnessed the challenges of teen pregnancy and irresponsible parenting, I was determined to make a difference in my own community.
I wanted Mind & Mom to become a lighthouse of hope for women across India, offering support, education, and resources to navigate the complexities of motherhood. Through workshops, seminars, and outreach programs, we aim to empower women with knowledge and confidence, enabling them to make informed choices about their health and well-being.
Being a woman in her 30s, starting a new venture, and owning a space and brand in the community wasn’t a one-night decision. It took me a decade of experience in various fields and countries.
Looking back on my journey, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude for the experiences that have shaped me into the woman/entrepreneur I am today.”
