“My birth was a strange experience since as soon as I was born, I was abandoned by the river. Seeing this, some good soul picked me up and dropped me in one of the shelter homes in Mumbai. But you see, the universe had a grand plan in place.
The people who picked me up from the river side were my mother’s colleagues at her workplace. So when my parents set out on this search for adoption after trying for a while, they came to know about me and they immediately flew to Mumbai and took me home.
And within the next few months, two surprises popped along the way. One was my mom figuring out that she was pregnant with my sister; and the second one was me getting diagnosed with cerebral palsy. And thus began this beautiful journey of me learning to get through life through a limited means of mobility.
It started with parents who dedicated their life to my existence and a sister, who is my better half. Together, we travelled through different surgical procedures, my phases of seizure and immense learning and doing to get me to where I am today.
My sister took the role of my mother and was always the one who would help me pack to school, help me with homework and lessons and also be there with me constantly.
Fast forward to college, I was on my own since I wanted to study medicine and there I faced so many challenges along with getting along with my peers. But, it’s been a thoroughly enjoyable journey till now and I am currently a doctor and also the founder of Civil Service Aspirants Welfare association simultaneously preparing for my UPSC exams. I have won many awards and recognitions for my work and I will continue to inspire many more people out there.”
