“When you look at a person what do you first see?
We have a tendency to notice another person’s gender, designation, status, religion, caste, qualification, the title of their job, their qualities, etc but do we realise that at the core of them all, is a human being? We miss the “human”always.
A person with all of the above attributes may or may not completely check all the boxes society has set aside for him. And this is exactly what propelled me in the journey towards becoming an educator. Today I train IAS, IPS officers and key members in leadership on what it means to be a human.
As someone who has been on the receiving end of many such prejudices and biases, I strongly believe that we can all benefit from a little understanding that we as human beings, owe each other a lot more respect and empathy.
This journey eventually pushed me to start a platform on Instagram titled ‘Ethics 101’. Mainly because, the current generation have become hopeless victims to the mindless scrolling phenomenon. I wanted to understand if I could tap Instagram’s potential on educating as well.
I pen down narratives picked up from the great epics and other relevant scenarios from current affairs and jot down my opinion on the ethical aspect of the event. There is a regular Q&A session on the stories where I invite thoughts from different people who choose to engage with me on various topics where a moral dilemma would be superimposed.
For, I strongly believe in the power of humanity to reconstruct and if we want to bring in any change at all, it starts with a conversation. The more we talk, the more we understand and the more we act to bring in a change. The world is a beautiful place and we can all make sure to leave it a little better than how we found it, should we actively act on it.”
