“People often ask me curiously if I earn enough as a betel leaf seller and why I chose this for a living. Now, though my usual response to that would just be a smile, there are still a million emotions masked underneath.
You see, after having worked in a factory setting for over 30 years, I stand today as someone who truly understands the meaning of freedom. I was in the plastic industry, where employees were treated like donkeys with monotonous routines, creating plasticware day in and day out! What’s worse was witnessing the hierarchy be extremely biased towards people of certain color and certain, in turn corrupting the work environment and making the it unbearable for minorities.
So, only after sufficiently experiencing all sides to the job, did I even make the switch to starting something out on my own. My business again, might seem miniscule but the independence it provides me with, is unmatchable! And to quote the old tamil saying “no job is little as long as one doesn’t lie or cheat or steal.” That’s the quote I’d like to live life by!”
