“Within two months of being married, I was diagnosed with cancer. It started off with severe itching in several areas of my body and then eventually led to breathlessness whenever I walked even a short distance. People around me suggested that I got an unknown ailment and suggested many religious procedures and I did them too but nothing helped. This is when we decided to get it checked with a doctor and upon scanning, we came to know that the cancer zone was attacking my lymph nodes.
What followed was three years of an intense period of chemo and radiation and scanning! Many people threw words at me saying my husband’s marriage life got ruined, I got this disease because my parent’s sin and I my lifetime will be shortened because it was cancer! I eventually lost all my hair and people would ask me to cover up my head; but I didn’t let it affect me much because what has happened and eventually, we need to take a step forward to better our situation. So what started in the year of 2016, finally cleared up completely in 2018. This was when life decided to throw in a sweet surprise in the body of a pregnancy.
Though I was initially sceptical about this, we cleared it with the doctors and now, I am the mother of a two-year-old son! Throughout all these years, my husband has been the biggest support system for me. It was only through prayers and his constant support that I was able to come out of this. People often ask me how I brave everything with a light-minded attitude. But we as a family strongly believe that life is extremely short and we need to do what it takes to find a solution to a crisis and keep moving forward. Biggest blessing in life is being healthy and everything else comes after that. And so far, life has been nothing short of incredible and we are keen to move forward together.”
