“Born and brought up in a typical Tam- bhram family, I ended up doing my engineering before I could decide what I wanted in life, almost as though engineering was the basic qualification I needed before thinking about my dreams, passion and skills. Eventually, I realised my passion towards marketing and pursued MBA.
Childhood was the best part of my life, just like everyone else who grew up in the 90s. I have a brother who is a cinema fanatic and would drag me to watch every film on the day of its release. That’s how I developed both, love for and knowledge of cinema. So much so, that I can’t help but quote a dialogue or two of Vadivelu in every conversation of mine. Visiting the beach and exploring food joints across the city is something we enjoy together even today. I head back to these places, not just for the food, but also to find the pieces of my lost childhood.
However, as we grew up, the trips with our parents during Summer vacations changed to solo biking trips over long weekends and vacations with friends. During college, I ended up making many road trips and exploring the lengths and breaths of towns like Trichy and Tanjore and the North-Eastern parts of the country.
These trips taught me that people have many faces and everyone is nice to you as long as they have something to benefit from you. The uncertainty of life and the ever-changing nature of people hit me like a ton of bricks. I evolved as a person and realised that life serves everyone with a balanced diet of happiness, sorrow, challenges, successes, friends and foes. And now I try to live in the moment and enjoy life to the fullest. When things go wrong, I just smile, tell myself that ‘Aal Izz Well’, and go on with life!”
