The story as told by a volunteer – “How often do we thank people in our lives? How often are we thankful for the smallest of things?
Amaravati, 91 year old lives a life on her terms. I chanced upon her just a couple of months ago at an elderly care and I am truly one of her fan ever since. Despite living alone she manages everything on her own.
Her smile can almost make anyone’s day. What does it take to thrive into, and beyond the ninth decade of our lives? Her calm exterior, armed with a positive attitude towards her surroundings and willingness to talk about all issues around getting older can make anyone realize what it takes to have a family and home. Many a times we miss the smallest things, we take them for granted. However for some it could mean everything. She reads newspaper every day and can instantly strike a conversation about anything from IPL leagues to movies and what not. Her zeal to live and learn each day is an important take away for all youngsters living out there. Her thirst to acquire knowledge makes her an even more interesting character. She keeps saying you’re never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. It’s important to have a twinkle in your wrinkle. Other than reading, she also knits in her free time and loves playing cards. She reads without her glasses and for that matter doesn’t complain much about any issues that comes along with aging. We need more people like her to make us understand the value of life. Once in a way coming across such people gives us courage to view life from a different perspective.”
