“Our foray into setting out into social responsibility started way back in our 8th grade. Back then, inspired by the history lessons we were taught then, I developed treaties with all my friends just to have fun. Each treaty would give detailed information about the place we would sit for lunch, the expected roles out of a friendship. It started as a completely fun way of replicating a historical document but turned out life into a different path. One of those days, I showed my dad the treaty we had developed and he just mentioned causally how we could use this to do something constructive for the society.
Thus was formed our group – Jatayu friend’s circle. Our first cause visit was to an orphanage. In that tender age, watching kids our age have largely different lives from ourselves had a different kind of impact on us. From then on, we have been actively taking part in organising various initiatives.
One of the iconic initiatives of ours was helping in the rescue and relief efforts for the Uttarkand floods. It helped to know everyone was ready to help and with the right channels of support, we could all create a monumental impact.
This set the stone for two of our Bonafide initiatives. Emergency Educational Relief and Monetary Aid (EERAM) and Empowerment of Tribals and The Underprivileged (ETTU). What started with 30 odd members has now grown into a full fledged 100 member society.
I just want to leave the readers with this thought – making an impact doesn’t require much. Just an intention is enough. The required resources find your way. And if you want to start something, just go for it without thinking much.”
