“I am Nisha, a woman who has experienced so much in her life that it feels like a dream to be where I am today. Born in Chennai, I spent most of my life in Coimbatore, where I got married to a businessman at a young age. Despite not being from South India, I was put in a Tamil medium school until the 9th grade. Unfortunately, I was stopped from going to school during the 10th grade by my brother, as boys in the streets were watching me. Despite this setback, I never lost my zeal to learn and grow.
I was blessed with three beautiful children, Meena, Manju, and Sagar, who are all settled in Chennai with successful careers. During my 20s and 30s, I struggled with bringing up my kids and taking care of the family. I had no dreams or passions for myself, like many other mothers. I did everything I could to contribute to my family’s income, from distributing pamphlets to marketing products door-to-door. Even though my husband was earning, we still faced financial struggles.
My life took a tragic turn when my husband fell ill six years ago. He suffered a stroke and was arrested, and I was the one who had to take care of him entirely. I never once gave up on him, and I was always there to support him, even when it felt like I was alone.
Losing my husband six months ago was the most challenging thing I’ve ever faced. But it was also a turning point in my life. I realized that I needed to start living for myself and pursuing my passions. I am now almost 60 years old, and I am the CEO of ‘The Unstoppable Angels,’ a brand founded by my daughter, Meena Chabbria, who is the Vice President of PVR Cinemas (South).
Age is just a number, and I believe that every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a difference. I wake up every day, cook my favourite meal, play with my dog, and head to the office. I manage a team of young minds and sit with them to strategize and plan for our mission to empower 1 lakh+ women to become global leaders. It fills me with joy to see the passion and dedication that these young people bring to their work.
I am proud to be a part of ‘The Unstoppable Angels’ and the mission we stand for. I am proof that it’s never too late to start pursuing your dreams and making a difference in the world. I hope that my story inspires other women to believe in themselves and to never give up, no matter how difficult life may seem. Age is just a number, and with confidence and determination, we can go miles before we sleep.”
