“Valentine’s day this year, started off like any other lazy sunday- relaxed, until I witnessed a dog whimpering in the neighbouring street. It was a small puppy, as old as 45 days crying out loud after a car had hit it hard. What’s worse was the Hernia bulge in its posterior, amplifying the pain a hundred times more! Everyone around pitied its state but none seemed keen to help.
But having grown fond of dogs right from childhood, I knew I couldn’t just walk away! So I picked her up and rushed to the nearest veterinary clinic along with my sister. While I expected the treatment there to help her, I wasn’t satisfied at all and was subsequently appalled, in fact, to witness another pup, one even younger than what we’d brought, being pecked by a flock of crows. This was right outside the clinic and seeing the pup struggling to fight, we knew we had to help. So upon checking with the watchman there, we brought both the little ones home without a second thought!
Next was calling up various pet hospitals to check the availability of doctors. Since it was a Sunday, most places were closed by the time we could get in touch. So it became quite the task but somehow, we ultimately managed to reach out to a veterinarian who checked the beings with extra care. In the end, the smaller one just needed proper nursing while the other required an elaborate surgery to be restored to normalcy.
Now, once we returned from there, we made them both rest inside cartons on a soft cloth, but that again, was just the start! They needed attention every hour, especially the first one with Hernia. Nevertheless, we were only happy, now that the puppies were sheltered and weren’t in any dire scenario!
Following that, we were able to hand over the first puppy to the blue-cross after completing the required formalities. It was definitely a mixed bag of feelings while giving her away, but it was important that she was in good hands. And as for the smaller one, he seems to enjoy chilling in his little cardboard box while we’re both out. I guess this valentine’s day unexpectedly turned out to be a memorable one and for all the right reasons!”
