“I didn’t know that my grandson was going to put the video up for the whole world to see. Else, I would have played some more songs. He told me it was for his friends and asked me to play some movie songs. After all, that’s what this generation likes and music is all about being relevant to the current generation.
I was 10 years old when I first stepped into a class to learn to play the violin. I learnt until I turned 15 and then, life caught up. I continued playing in family functions, gatherings and for my children. Never did I step out to play at a concert, commercial event or for people outside the family. But I have no regret about that. My children have picked up the art from me and they play too but that’s only an occasional thing and not a passion like me.
But it is not something I can complain about because of their lifestyle, education, everything is so different and hectic that they do not find time for leisure. For instance, even in this period of lockdown, they’re busy with their work and do not find time to relax. I enjoy playing the violin and it keeps me happy, so I continue to do it. And I hope I will be able to continue doing it for many more years. After all, optimism and hope is the only thing that keeps the world moving forward right!”
