“Priyanjoli and I met through our shared passion for leaving a better planet for our future generations. As a french citizen based out of Chennai for the last 12 years, my chance encounter with Priyanjoli turned into an emboldened friendship that led to our initiative ‘Oh Scrap Madras’. As an entrepreneur, Priyanjoli was running a sustainable fashion brand and we started our initiative by working to bring a second lease of life to the discarded fabric waste. What started as a passion project became a full fledged brand with a team of 12, entirely led by women. We grown through these years with our brand branching out to multiple services, including creating awareness, upcycling workshops to induce the knowledge and the necessity for sustainability in this time and age. We have now extended our services to include a vertical that creates memorabilia for our customers. We have often had people come to us to ask if we could help them upcycle their old clothes that they have fond memories with, and those of which, they are not ready to part with yet. We create people products based on our client’s requirements and this new initiative has also been a massive hit with our clientele. We make it a point to talk about and keep spreading knowledge about our work and also the core principals of sustainability. Our dream is to expand our reach and also, take our work to the masses to ensure that the knowledge of this is taken by more folks and people actively inculcate this into their everyday lifestyle.”
