“I’m a human with heterogeneous plans and diverse dreams!
I took Economics as my subject matter & soon I learned that I was passionate about the same subject. I pursued bachelors in Economics in Pune. Though I was a simple-made girl from Vellore, this transition of travelling from my home to somewhere far was challenging. That was the core turning point of my life where I acknowledged my shortcomings and insecurities.
I was too naive to understand them and so, took a lot of time and experience to accept myself as I was.
Woefully, I was unconfident about speaking up for myself and felt insecure about my looks. These wave thoughts kept hitting me then and there, which stopped me from taking vital decisions in life.
But the exposure which I got from the age of 17, made me a fearless woman. I became the president of one of the social clubs in the college. Having Economics as my core, I did a lot of research and readings on the subject which made me start a YouTube channel, Econfinity with Manjari, in 2020 where I spoke about Economics, the Stock Market, Communism and so on in Tamil. Fortunately, I was so strong with my subject and liked to go deep in learning a lot, covering the whole aspect of economics. However, I’m more of a creative person, firstly – I sketch, paint, debate and I’m a photographer too!
Despite facing the same daily hurdles and life crunches as the rest of us, I had the confidence to be able to survive anywhere on the globe.
But before the lockdown hit, I was working in varied fields. After my college, I worked in a CSR, then with a research organization and then jumped onto a corporate life. Once I was sick of the corporate life, I jumped into farming in Wayanad, in association with an NGO.
And then the COVID happened and consequently (after a proper career counselling), my Econfinity transpired too!
My mind and heart were in total sync which paved me way to try out everything because I want to give everything a shot, whatsoever.
That’s how modelling happened too!
A year back, by looking at my videos on YouTube, one of the Photographers approached me asking me to pose, conceptual-wise. I was taken aback, pondered over ‘why me’.
After clicking the pictures and when uploaded them on Instagram, I was surprised on interpreting the critiques. I observed that many young girls who still are insecure about their dark skin, DMed me by stating that I was an inspiration, which brought me life and overpowered my vulnerabilities.
Being an economist, I started educating college students on developing their financial literacy and shared my readings with people who wanted to extend a neat financial portfolio on investments and their offshoots. I’m now the founder & director of Econfinity.
I believe that one must typically know every aspect of financial investments because that gives them the clarity on saving their hard-earned money. I tend to give that knowledge to young teens and early 20s, which will help them lay their financial plot systematically, thus saving themselves from the future, which is unpredictable.
I don’t mind my complexity and I don’t give the peace of my mind to anybody! I, rather, do what I like and build a diverse path for myself.
Contemporarily, I love exploring experiences and value the time I take to learn and understand myself. It’s nice to be self-content and to love oneself more which makes me believe that nothing is impossible.”
