“As a kid, my mother would sit me down to teach me music, but I was always inclined towards dance. It was only much later that I realized the importance of music in my life.
When I was three years old, I was enrolled in music classes. Life began a new chapter and within no time, I became completely fluent and started training under a lot of gurus. Slowly, a career in music started to take shape and I had a clear vision of where I wanted to be. Shortly after school, I completed a certification course in music.
Then came the college days and a whirlwind of activities turned my life around. As a singer with considerable years of training, college opened innumerable gates of opportunities for me. I attended a hoard of events and did a lot of shows; even recorded a couple of songs with studios. This was one of the most beautiful periods of my life and I took advantage of every opportunity I came in contact with. Anything and everything seemed possible and then, it got even better, when I met my sound engineering coach and his friend, Sriram. I even pursued a sound engineering course after convincing my parents!!
My vague career path seemed to take a structure of its own! I knew where I wanted to be! Together, Sriram and I, set out to build on the biggest dream of our lives, ‘Sahanas’. ‘Sahanas’ & ‘Studio Sahanas’ is a two part initiative that deals with music, voice culture training, events, workshops and the a well-equipped recording, mixing and mastering studio respectively.
However, like with all the good things, I met with a roadblock! My dad was transferred to Bangalore and we had to move there as a family. My whole life revolved around music but I was expected to leave everything behind to go to a new city. It was one of the hardest periods of my life! I joined an NGO there and worked for about 8 months but my heart and mind were still in Chennai. Even though everything was going well at my job, I knew I wasn’t working on my dream. So I mustered the courage and moved to Chennai. Eventually, once my parents came around, I left the job and devoted all my time to the studio.
Since then, we have grown leaps and bounds. Some of the lessons and the takeaways of the process are timeless and they have molded me as a person. Trust your heart and go for your dreams in full dive and trust me, you will not be disappointed!”
