“After my B.Tech. degree in Chennai, I was eager to get into a high-end college to pursue a Masters degree. As I wished, I was placed in VIT. While working on my MBA, I held myself busy by engaging in many digital operations such as Media, PR, Events, Marketing, Content, Branding, and so on. Vignesh, who was one of my very old friends, and I planned to work on digital-related works online and I headed the business operations. That’s how Blacksheep began its journey.
All these activities helped me to fix up a career goal, a passion, and a vision.
I worked as an RJ at Suryan FM during my MBA for Part-time. Initially, my goal was to become a Radio Station head. The path was planned much ahead and I had segments segregated better as well. But later, when I began to explore the digital platform deep, my vision towards involving in the online space got immense. And that’s how Smile Settai came into the picture.
I coined my professional triangle from which I derived my strategy for focusing on my digital goal. Every triangle has three sides wherein each side has a target and a strong edge towards something. I have jotted those 3 sides as Brand, Content & Technology. When these BCT factors are found in any industry, I believe that work suits me and I would peep in my presence instantly. I operate in such a way that all the BCT work together in a neat alignment.
I currently work as a Vice President in Pepul. I’ve engaged almost for a decade in the digital domain.
But this wasn’t an easy journey.
The digital platform did not have a concrete career option back then. More importantly, maximum families fear the exposure that their kids receive due to online fraud and negativity.
My MBA placements fetched me an opportunity in the banking sector. My family knew this and I did not have a chance to choose between banking work and my interest in working in media. The media had no financial security, no commitment toward career growth or no consistency too.
However, I opted to work in banks for 3 years, which helped me learn about the banking process and terminologies.
Time flew and one fine day (after a lot of thinking), decided to quit my job. I worked towards my passion. My family did not know this for 8 long months. However, I was caught red-hand. They were very upset about my decision but after a couple of years, when our brand got recognized, the entire family was convinced and delighted with what I was (/am) doing.
I took some time to understand the trend. But once I discovered them, I take the right action and the right time. This mantra of mine has driven me to a very satisfying place, for which I’m working passionately and whole-heartedly.”
