“Art is a different genre, and I found my place within it as a filmmaker. After completing my visual communication course at Loyola, my confidence soared, and I decided to take a leap into the world of cinema. I applied for Nalaiya Iyakkunar, a reality show for movie directors and professionals. The moment of receiving an award at just 21 years old for directing a realistic film from none other than Kalam Hassan sir was unforgettable, though I was nervously shaking.
Before embracing my path as a director, I toyed with the idea of becoming a wildlife photographer. However, destiny had other plans, and I soon found success in the world of filmmaking. A year after winning that award, I was given the chance to direct a feature film, “Savaari.” I eagerly embarked on another project, but it hit a pause due to financial conflicts.
Then came an exciting opportunity to direct the very first Amazon Prime Tamil web series. This journey introduced me to a circle of fellow directors, and we constantly brainstormed new ideas. I always had a vision of creating an Indian comic character in my movies, much like the iconic heroes of Marvel and DC. My passion for gaming and fantasy ideas fueled my creativity.
Initially, my father wasn’t supportive of my cinematic aspirations, wherein my mom held my hand. But as time went on, they understood my exceptional love for the world of cinema.
Soon after my feature film and series, I decided to direct a movie of my biggest visions of bringing an Indian comic Supersaga movie into reality.
I’ve had the privilege of directing a movie titled “Weapon,” starring the talented actors Sathyaraj and Vasanth Ravi. This project was produced by ‘Million Studios’ production house in Chennai. The film is about to be released, and I’ve already planned a sequel for the film which will all come under one universe.
I never thought about bringing my dream into reality of offering a Superhuman action thriller movie to our Tamil audiences.
But…
I dreamed, stronger than yesterday, to make it happen, to make it a reality.
To all the young, aspiring minds out there, I would say this: Keep the fire burning and stay focused on your goals. Sometimes, it’s best to keep your vision to yourself until it materialises. Develop that killer instinct and never give up on your dreams.”
