“Born into a conservative family, makeup to me was always a bare minimum. Around the time of my marriage, when I was on an ardent search for a MUA, I was shell shocked to see prices quoted to me. It was way too pricey for a one-time thing and as per our traditions, we had a minimum of 6 different events which meant, I would have to shell out a huge chunk of the marriage expenses for my make up! That was the time I decided that I had to something about this and started by experimenting with make up on my own! In the world of YouTube, anything and everything can be learnt online so I was all ready to take the plunge. What followed were a series of days with in depth research and learning. What had started as a way to an economical wedding turned into a new found hobby! The wedding day turned out great and I was really pleased with my efforts. Encouraged, I started dressing up to even the most mundane routines and I noticed my colleagues following suit. Experimenting and learning, I did a small face lift make up experiment on my cousin and everyone in my family was greatly impressed with it. Thus began my long tryst with makeup and I loved the way make up just accentuated someone’s face. I have completed around 20 different make up looks on different people and I can say with certainty that I learnt something new every time. For one, it’s fascinating to note that each one’s face structure, the eye shape and the skin type is vastly different so you are an artist at work trying to bring out the essential feature in the canvas of the face. Some might argue that a master class or a course would be able to give all these insights but I find that there is something so noble about doing the hard work yourself and arriving at your own answers.”
