“People have a hard time believing that I was a true-blue introvert growing up, before I became a radio jockey.
I attribute it completely to my undying enchantment for the media world, especially RJing. It was rather big back in the day and I still remember viewing the office buildings as a child with such awe. That fascination slowly crept in during my college days too, with a longing to shift to Viscom. It peaked to the extent that post my graduation in commerce, I started working as a photographer. And from there slowly I ventured into other areas like writing, marketing and even foreign relations management for a brief bit. While it might seem non-conformist of me, those four years of experimenting with jobs did help me pick up an array of skill, all aiding my final goal!
However, while things seemed to be finally working in my favour, life decided to throw in a major curveball, in the form of a heartbreak. The pain then was so much, that my psychologist recommended a change of living environment to aid my recovery. Furthermore, growing up an introvert in a conservative city without much exposure, I felt a shift to Chennai was indeed necessary. It was my dream city where I was able to make ample contacts while working in alternate media platforms. Of course, there were bumps there as well, especially when it came to the cost of living. Nevertheless, I managed it all with a close-knit bunch of friends by my side.
Now the biggest surprise in my story happened after two years in Chennai. Life definitely came about a full circle with an Rjing offer presented to me, right back at my hometown of Madurai. It felt unreal for my dream had finally come true! And once I started working, I was able to eventually earn my own show and gather an avid listener-base. One of my best interactions, in fact, has been with a visually challenged listener, who suddenly showed up at office, only to move me to tears. Now with such unexpected appreciation coming my way, all the chaos, hustle and sleepless nights finally feel worth it!”
