“My Mr.India journey when I was first body-shammed.
In my teens, body shaming was an unbearable conversation for me. It seemed like a life-threatening issue. I was introduced to a gym trainer through one of my friends, from where I started building my body. Within 4 to 5 months, I gained a decent amount of weight, confidence and structure that allowed me to portray myself well.
I fell in love with fitness and its seduction of making my body fit. I won Mr.Chennai 6 years back after 3 years of complete hard work, commitment & lots of trial and error.
I pursued MBA in Finance & Marketing at SRM University. My college was a happening place that boosted my presence and urged me to be active. It was a good start to my professional life. I was offered a job at one of the banks in Anna Nagar as an Asst. Manager, which was a huge deal for me. I decided to move on with my career – two years passed by. Visits to the gym became seldom.
During my term in the bank, I wasn’t happy with the 9-5 job though it was paying well. This hit me hard and I quit my job. I was stuck for a couple of months, having no idea how to take my career life forward.
I was 23 and got back to the gym – trained myself. Since TikTok was quite famous back then, I started posting knowledge-based content and one of them got viral.
TikTok was banned and then Instagram started. Since I was the first graduate in my family, the decision-making was very critical and needed more patience but I gradually sorted it out by the results that I noticed.
Ever since I was recognized for my fitness, a couple of them approached me for fitness tips, diet plans and training methods & more importantly, they paid me as well.
Through a lot of references, I started receiving clients globally. That’s how Train With Sethu (an online fitness transformation program) began. I was earning better than in my previous employment.
By looking at the immense responses, I took a loan in started my own studio. Positive Fitness Studio now has two branches (OMR & Tambaram). So far, I’ve trained 1000+ people for transformations and other plans.
When there is a need for something, things start happening automatically. Mistakes do happen but trust the process. Every process is a hint that takes you higher. I was stuck at many parts too but I noticed those hints and grabbed those ropes tightly.
Remember that perfection is always an illusion. Just start!”
