“Everyone my age has a favorite actor, star, or film personality, but for me, I am my personal favorite. I think that the goal in every person’s life should be to become a better person than they were a year or even just a day ago. That’s the only way to grow, instead if you spend your time trying to be better than someone else, you’d end up in nothing but a wild goose chase. For instance, I have been learning Silambam for close to seven years now and have started participating in district level competitions. My goal now should be to get better than what I was when I joined, better than the time that I first entered the district competitions, and be prepared for the state and national levels that I would be going for in the future. But, if I spend my time trying to compare myself with a fellow student, my master, or an actor on screen, I would end up with nothing but bruises and injuries. So, the hero in everyone’s life is none but themselves. Silambam has been my passion today, but I started off just because my father forced me to take it up, this apart, I have also been learning to play the Mirudhangam for 11 years now, but I have very little interest in that space although I have spent a considerable amount of my life learning it and have invested more time and energy into that than I did in Silambam. But, probably it all boils down to finding your passion and following your dreams. For me, it has been Silambam.”
