“Life has a way of steering us in unexpected directions. In 2002, after completing my BCA degree from Salem Vysya College, my father’s sudden illness forced me into the workforce. My first job was far from what I had envisioned – I worked as a salesperson at a lottery shop in Salem, earning just ₹1,500 a month. It was a humble beginning, but it marked the start of my journey.
For eight months, I worked in the lottery business, but when the industry was shut down in Tamil Nadu by the then Chief Minister, J. Jayalalitha, I was left without a job. Desperate to continue earning, I moved to Kerala, but the pay remained low. Determined to improve my situation, I enrolled in a diploma course at Alagappa University for PGDCA. However, balancing work and studies became overwhelming, so I left the job to focus on my exams.
In 2003, I went to Bangalore in search of a job, but the city’s opportunities eluded me. After exhausting my savings, I returned home and found a job in September, earning ₹2,000 a month. Over the years, I worked tirelessly, and by 2011, I was earning ₹20,000 a month and had my MCA degree too. During this time, I got married and had a son, but my dream of becoming an entrepreneur persisted.
In 2011, I moved to Chennai, hoping to find better opportunities. However, securing a job proved challenging. I helped friends acquire new business, but they cheated me after receiving money from clients, wasting 1.5 years of my time for nothing. Despite the setbacks, I was determined to control my destiny and, in 2013, founded Kirshi Technologies. The early years were difficult, but we gradually secured projects and expanded into the cinema industry, developing ticketing apps for multiplexes in Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Brunei.
Kirshi Technologies evolved into an IT services business that caters to a global audience, offering web, mobile, AI/ML, and IoT solutions. My first tech team made several mistakes, leading to significant losses before COVID-19. However, during the pandemic, I formed a new team that helped the company grow quickly and break all barriers. The COVID-19 pandemic posed a significant challenge, particularly for our cinema-related projects. However, I pivoted the business towards the USA, UAE, and Singapore markets, which allowed us to continue growing. My guiding principles – trust, relationships, and delivery – helped build a solid reputation.
During this challenging period, my wife stood by me, giving me the strength to push forward and she is pillar of my life as well. Today, I am proud to have not only founded Kirshi Technologies but also Kavinu Design Agency, specializing in UI/UX design, SEO, and SMM. Additionally, I’ve become a part of two other startups, expanding my entrepreneurial footprint.
In October 2023, I reached a milestone by traveling to the USA on a business visa and seeing a photo of myself, my wife, and my team displayed on a billboard in New York’s Times Square, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Kirshi Technologies. I found the key to obtaining a USA business visa easily, a crucial step in expanding my business internationally.
In addition to these successes, I now own a SaaS startup and an IT services company in the USA. Building on this foundation, I recently launched a venture-building company to help others bring their ideas to market. I am now proudly part of seven companies, each contributing to my mission of making a difference.
My journey has been one of resilience, turning challenges into opportunities. No matter where you start, with determination and perseverance, you can achieve your dreams.”
