“Ever since childhood, I’ve always been an active kid, known to spend more time on the grounds than inside classrooms. So with that natural inclination towards sports, I explored a whole bunch of games before accidentally being discovered by my first-ever football coach. He made sure to throw me immediately into the deep end to train alongside male players whilst attempting to form our school’s first ever women’s football team.
So what began there was a rather rocky path towards discovering my true passion for the sport but one that I cherish, for it gave me a sense of purpose! I became that student who clearly knew what she wanted and was ready to give it her all. Of course, the journey wasn’t devoid of hurdles but every fall eventually became a stepping stone that solidified the idea that of exploring Football professionally too, for the rest of my time!
And one major reminder of that was the hiatus I took from practice to focus on my board exams. It was barely for a few months but that period was enough to take a huge toll on my mental health. It made me realize somewhere that a 9-5 would never make me happy and pushed me to look out for alternate opportunities in my own field four years later as well, towards the end of college.
Now slowly with perseverance, things started falling in place when I received my first-time coaching license and was subsequently approached by the production house of the movie ‘Bigil’ for a supporting part. And as diverse as these scenarios seem, they gave me a much deeper insight into the technical aspects of the game.
What’s even better was getting noticed by my current boss, on those same sets and kick starting my career in their sports management company! Today, I’m in a much happier space, exploring the game in all ways possible in my time as an active player. Of course, it calls for varying degrees of sacrifices along the way, right from living alone in a new city, to the pressure of earning more amongst but I wouldn’t want to change a thing!
All I wish for at the moment, is to train hard, be a better player than yesterday and seek opportunities that would showcase my potential! In the end, I believe a passion should be respected for what it is!”
