My parents moved to Chennai from Andhra Pradesh, I set up my iron stall here in front of this apartment when I decided to earn a living on my own. It has been over 18 years now. Initially, my mother and father used to help me with the shop, and then I got married; now my wife works with me. She goes around the apartments, collects the clothes, helps me press them, and delivers it back.
We didn’t study much but we want our children to study a lot and be successful in whatever they choose. That’s our only dream.

Education is important for a person to make a decent living, we didn’t have that, but that should not stop someone from trying. I keep telling this to all my friends also and I have brought many people from my village and helped them set up their iron shops in the nearby localities. I aim to help many more such people find a living.”
