“It was in class 12 that I learnt something invaluable. Four friends and I once, bunked school to attend the wedding of our classmate’s sister. We came back for thesecond half of the day and naturally, we were questioned by our sir. Each of them had a lie or alibi ready, but I confessed that I had gone to attend the wedding. With a scale in his hand, he called me to his desk but hugged and praised me for my honesty. He said that he was aware of our whereabouts. He was also happy that we joined our dear friend in his happiness and celebrations.
But most of all, he appreciated my honesty. That taught me to face every situation with honesty and integrity. Had he reacted any different from the way he did, I am sure I would have grown to bea person who lies and avoids confrontations. How I was treated in my adolescent years played an important role in what I’ve become today.
