“No job in the world is worth sacrificing your peace of mind. I am an M.Com graduate and a chips seller at the Besant Nagar Beach.
A fancy-looking ID card, white-collared job, fixed income, and comfortable life is what most people aspire for, and the price they pay for this is their peace of mind and self-respect. This chips seller at the Besant Nagar beach that you see now is an M.Com graduate, I had a well-paid job in a decent corporate company too, but then there was too much politics and things that went against my principles that happened every day. I was not ready to live with that. So, I quit my job, bought four autos with my savings to earn a living. My wife takes care of this Yam chips shop and I earn by plying an auto around the city.
We live as a joint family, my aunts, uncles, their kids, my four siblings, my parents, my wife and children, we all live in the same street as one happy family. But yes, my parents are not very happy with the fact that I choose to drive an auto over a 9-5 job that assures me a regular income. But my take on that is different, one needs to leave the table if respect isn’t being served, I left too, and I think that was the wisest decision of my life.
I make a decent living, enough to meet all the needs of my wife and children and I can get a good night’s sleep the minute I hit the bed and that’s all that matters to me.”
