“Hope isn’t something like the light at the end of a tunnel or the pot of gold you find at the end of the rainbow. It is something you need to find on the go and keep passing it on as you move like you do in a relay race. My life has been a rollercoster whose changes have been hard to predict, it’s been so random and drastic one would think it is straight out of a movie.
When I was one year old, my grandparents had come over for my birthday, after the celebrations my father went to drop them off in the station and took me along. Just as they were about to board the train my grandparents asked if they could raise me as they were lonely in their oldage.
My father obliged and my mother was shocked on learning how my father has sent me to his hometown with his parents. I was raised there until I was in my seventh standard, and then came to Chennai to live with my parents. This city has embraced me since then.
Both my parents were working so I was alone at home after school and being an introvert I didn’t make a lot of friends, so books and movies kept me company, I have been someone who could never relate to what having “childhood friends” mean. It was only when I reached college that I met people whom I can call my friends for life, they have shaped me into what I am today. I learnt a lot about life, explored a lot of places, watched a lot of new movies, explored new genres of books, and tried different food.
Post my engineering I landed a well-paid job, but I realized that I was not happy doing it, that’s when I found a job as a content writer. When I am not working, I read a lot of new books, click pictures of people, incidents, and places that inspire and fill me with hope. I pass it on through Instagram stories to the rest of the world. I try to do my bit by looking for hope and moments that would make me smile and spread the cheers around.”
