“I tied the knot when I was about to graduate from a 5-year integrated course in Coimbatore.
I settled down in Chennai after my marriage and made up my mind to be a homemaker.
Somehow, I felt uneasy staying home all day, which made me think of working on something worthwhile. Meanwhile, we joined our first son at a Montessori school.
It was in 2012 when I met this beautiful ambience, rich in learning environment and premium education system. My husband and I immediately decided to fix the Montessori system as our son’s education approach. Within 2 months, I got a call from the school asking to take my son back. The teacher specially mentioned the drawbacks that my son carried. Consequently, I reduced the gadget time, and made him eat his food on his own, despite the pampering that the family bestows on him. Surprisingly, there were a lot of noticeable changes in my son’s behaviour and mannerism, which blew me.
I was curious enough to explore more about the education system. I desired to communicate with my son, to understand his language, to learn what he is doing at school
I did Indian Montessori Training in 2014 under the Primary sector. By the time I completed the Primary training, my elder son had moved to Elementary. I became more curious to take up the elementary sector as well. I became so passionate about understanding the subject and worked so hard to get trained as an educator.
After my training, I worked in schools in Chennai for 2+ years and got involved practically.
Montessori education usually seems costlier but the quality of education is supreme, resulting in providing the best mindful students – mentally, physically and emotionally.
By looking at the high-paid system, I was pondering about imparting this education to the children who can’t afford it.
I believe, if a child receives the best education, the family is itself developed, and consequently, resulting in the empowerment of the nation.
In 2019, I started hosting the Montessori education system in Government schools in Chennai. We somehow managed to bring in all the necessary classroom set-up that’s required for the child’s educational development.
We are currently in the process of training 30+ Chennai Corporation teachers for 30+ classrooms in 20 Chennai Corporation schools. In the meanwhile, the team – ‘En Chennai Young Chennai’ recognized my work and awarded me the ‘Educational Excellence Award’ in 2022.
The educational approach taken in Montessori schools allows children to grow at their own pace and invites students to pursue their special interests.
This helps the child build a successful career along with a better society for us to live in.
I am voicing out in spreading awareness to underprivileged parents about the incredible education system that a child can be blessed with.
Knowledge compliments studying, but quality education compliments learning!
I’m working on my dream towards establishing Montessori Education in impoverished society, thereby providing quality education to children who can’t afford it too!
