“During the pandemic, the front line workers came to the fore front of our awareness and we started to see the actual work they do. But as a journalist, I would like to add that throughout my life as a journalist, I have always been a front line worker.
Having completed my journalism degree, I started working as a journalist with Behind the Woods and till date, I am proud to state that I have interviewed several hundreds of celebrities and prominent personalities.
My life as a journalist have seen me being at the fore front of major calamities. This one time last year when the cyclone hit the shorelines, we drove to Mahabalipuram to interview the people there.
I still remember that on the first day of the Janta Curfew, I was sent to cover the story at Central station and there was utter chaos everywhere. People were clueless about reaching their place and were stuck with no sense of direction. I was approached to see if I would know a thing or two about tickets etc.
While this has all been quite adventurous, I would say that most times journalists don’t get the recognition they deserve. We have been the front line workers throughout our career and at every major event, we get there first to cover the story. People think it’s a very fancy role but I wish to say that those who are aspiring to get a role here to kindly get the complete picture before stepping in here.”
