“Even without sight, I’ve always believed in vision – the kind that shapes dreams and fuels purpose. I am India’s first visually impaired standup comedian, a skilled professional, an entrepreneur, and a content creator, and I ranked 1st in India in the IIT entrance (under the disability category). My eyesight might not be perfect, but I clearly see opportunities – and I make sure to seize every single one.
Like many others, I dreamt of becoming an engineer. But the path wasn’t easy. A senior guided me toward a unique opportunity: Development Studies at IIT Madras, an integrated master’s program blending tech, arts, and humanities. This course not only honed my intellect but also awakened the high-skilled professional within me, setting the stage for my future endeavors.
Driven to make my mark, I joined an organization for disabilities, where I worked for a year and a half. But curiosity and ambition tugged at me, prompting a break to explore new horizons. That’s when I realized I wanted to do more than earn a living – I wanted to inspire, uplift, and leave a positive impact on society.
My curiosity has always been my strength. As a child, verbal communication became my way of understanding the world. This made me an extrovert, sparking connections wherever I went. These traits naturally led me to perform standup comedy at corporate events and pursue business consulting for firms.
Standup comedy, for me, isn’t just entertainment – it’s connection. A joke stays with a person, along with the memory of who shared it. That thought led to the creation of Meet for Thought (MFT), a platform combining business consulting and storytelling. Through MFT, I use humor to show how a visually impaired person navigates everyday life. It’s not about pity – it’s about curiosity, understanding, and breaking stereotypes.
I believe curiosity is the key to replacing judgment with empathy. My humor helps me blend into social circles, but it also sets me apart. While there might not be anything extraordinary about me, there’s something undeniably unique – and that’s what makes all the difference.”
