“As someone who didn’t particularly enjoy education, school cultural programs came as a huge blessing in disguise. I used to bunk classes and join many singing events in our school which today, has paved my way for my career as an independent musician.
However, this didn’t come without its own set of challenges. After my schooling, I joined Loyola College Of Engineering and Technology. I would even go on to say that I did purely inspired by actor Madhavan sir in the movie Minnale.
With college, my limits expanded several folds. College gave me an amazing experience for my music. But, I couldn’t explore it to my complete potential because I have quite a number of arrears and there was a lot of pressure from my parents – perks of being a single child. But college deepened my passion for singing and set the fire burning.
I graduated out of college with all my arrears cleared and I joined a small company. After gaining a bit of experience, I moved into Zomato and it was here that my life changed for good. Zomato was a place where I discovered a lot of opportunities for my musical career and also it was the place that helped me grow as a person.
As someone who was in sales, this experience helped me come up with many songs and I eventually decided to pursue my career as an independent musician. So a few of my friends and myself came together to produce a song and release it in our individual profiles. But by the time we were done by it, we were quite impressed with the song quality that I went knocking on the doors of music labels to try and see if they we could release our song in their label.
Here, Think Music opened doors for us and received our warmly when we showcased our work. So our first song got released under their label and we currently have around 17 lakh streams which is way more than what we could have imagined. As independent artists in India, it is incredibly hard to get people to give us a chance so here is where, I received incredible support through my immediate friends and family.
We are currently on few other projects for labels and we would be releasing it quite soon. In all of this, if I have come to learn anything, it is that we should never ever let anyone deter us from our goal. People will always try and push us down, but we owe it ourselves to fight and make the most of this one life that we are blessed with. I’m glad to have persevered till this end and I hope to continue for many more miles with the kind blessings of everyone around me.”
