“I’m Dhanashu, and my journey has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride, filled with challenges, responsibilities, and moments of triumph. Born into a family that faced adversity early on, I took on the mantle of responsibility at a tender age. With three younger sisters relying on me, I came to Chennai at the age of 14 to pursue education, carrying the weight of my family’s hopes and dreams.

My father’s illness during my formative years compelled me to shoulder responsibilities beyond my age. I undertook my schooling at IIT while simultaneously working to support my family. The early challenges only fueled my determination to overcome obstacles.

Fortune smiled upon me when I was selected to join the military due to my robust physique. I gave it my all in that one shot and secured a place among the ranks immediately. Over the next 24 years of dedicated service, I earned numerous recognitions and medals. The military not only shaped my discipline and focus but also equipped me with skills beyond the battlefield, preparing me for a life beyond the uniform.

Amidst the trials of military life, I found a pillar of support in my wife, who played an instrumental role in raising our three sons. Now, with each of them leading their own lives and families, I reflect on the solid foundation we built together.

Upon retiring from the military, I got unexpected opportunities. Choosing a security post in one of Chennai’s top brands, I continued contributing my skills and discipline to a new setting. While other job offers came my way, my curiosity and interest led me to work for the Reserve Bank of India, where I served for over a decade.

Life took an unexpected turn with the loss of my family during my military service in my twenties. Though there are moments of regret, I always feel overwhelmed and privileged for who I’ve become now. I have emerged as a disciplined individual, punctual on every occasion. I know my evolution as a person, which I have always cherished.

Now, in the twilight of my career, I find joy and purpose in supporting my daughter-in-law’s food stall business at Thiruvanmayur Beach Road. The journey, with its ups and downs, has molded me into a person of character, strength, and compassion.

From being a farmer’s son to serving the country to working for big brands to holding onto my own food business, there was a lot of conviction, which is hidden.

If one has dedication and discipline, I’m sure they are on the track to success.”
