“Today, though we are in the 2020s, where all answers are available at the click of a button, I believe the industry with the most lag is definitely education! With society almost templatizing what’s expected of a person at various ages and stages, the norm is to often go through conventional methods of schooling and graduation before settling to hustle for the next 30 years.
And I saw this exact scenario starting to pan out in my life right from childhood. However, having never been one to adapt to the textbook style of learning, religiously followed by the institutions here made life all the more difficult, especially as an outlier who failed in his twelfth. But today, it’s all thanks to that huge jolt that I was subsequently able to achieve all the success I’d dreamt of!
For one, it helped me change my trajectory and take up sound engineering for a degree, after having pursued music for over ten years until then. And guess what? From a boy who was deemed a failure throughout, I went on to receive the highest merit in my whole batch and even began teaching students twice my age, soon after!
Life, however, had more learnings in store for me! And it took me through a whole rollercoaster, right from getting laid off of a well-paying job abroad to exploring the beats of entrepreneurship before teaching me the ultimate truth, that the key to success, in fact, lies in problem-solving and adaptability! Now as cliche as they may seem, these two underrated skills are what specifically kept my show up and running when there were moments that could have ended it completely!
Another aspect that often gets people intrigued about my journey is that even successful entrepreneurs can experience financial crunches. And this expensive lesson manifested itself in my life, particularly, during my wife’s second pregnancy, where I was managing an entire digital agency with 30+ employees on one hand whilst still searching for the cheapest possible items on a restaurant menu since I was bringing very little money back home. And when I look back at things in hindsight, I realized no one ever prepares the growing generation towards facing such challenges with grit! Most often, even the thought of something outside one’s comfort zone is frowned upon!
But that’s the thing about life- it’s always about venturing out and winning! So, drawing from my collective experiences, I knew I wanted to give people a skill that would prove useful and actually help them in building wealth.
And thus was rekindled, my tryst with teaching, where I set out to educate folks of all ages, on the power of digital media.
The experience has been so rewarding, in aspects besides money as well! Plus what started out as an earnest attempt has now defined the second innings of my life and I’ll forever be in relentless pursuit of actually empowering people through education! After all, it’s knowledge that truly shines at the end, right?”
