“With days being long and years flying by in a blink, I believe it’s important to dedicate time to the things you love- even if it calls for multiple sacrifices along the way. I picked this habit up from my mom, who was a thorough workaholic herself. Despite our economic scenario, growing up, I witnessed her multitasking all her responsibilities to perfection regardless of the effort required. She made me realize that it’s the mindset that matters at the end of the day.
Now in my case specifically, I grew up an active kid excelling in sports. On my verge of entering the state level selections, however, life had other plans! I landed in an accident and saw my physical activities come to a screeching halt, right after the 10th grade. And in the process, with a need to rest for almost a year, I saw my childhood dreams of representing the country crumbling down.
And It was incredibly difficult to process the loss of something you were so passionate about. Therefore, in a desperate attempt to distract, yet get back into fitness, I enrolled in a gym and started my tryst with bodybuilding. Again, the best part of today’s times is the internet, which gives everyone unlimited access to learning. Harnessing that, my main goal became educating myself on the topic.
Also, somewhere along the journey, I knew I wanted to pursue this for a lifetime. But life as usual doesn’t always present what one prefers on a platter. So trying to juggle both my family’s finances whilst trying to venture into fitness full-time, I switched between various jobs and being a trainer for a bit. This time although every factor in the picture was against my favor, especially the commute to my place of work which was 45kms up and down getting me deadbeat by the end.
But, regardless of the stress, what aided me was having the right mindset. A little voice in my head kept reminding me of what my passion ultimately was and has been guiding me, for over 2 years now! Today, I’m busy prepping for an international bodybuilding tournament, while trying to give my parents a shot at a luxurious life. It is difficult, but I’m sure, I’ll hit the goal one day.”
