“We were high school sweethearts, a typical old-school romance!
He would often make-up girlfriend troubles and I would advise him on how to solve it. Our relationship grew and one final day, on the 31st of March, he proposed to me! After considering, I decided to turn him down. The day and time were strategically planned so he was prepared for the ultimate rejection. He made it seem like an April’s day on hearing my answer! I was angry beyond words. I stopped talking to him and ignored his attempts to get my attention. One thing led to another and while on my way back home, he confronted me and told me why he did what he did. Life turned to normal but deep down I knew that I had fallen for him. We began dating soon after that and it’s been 10 years ever since. We are soon going to get married! And like any other relationship, ours have survived the worst storms. There were times we would fight for days.
But he would always be patient with me. Through it all, he was the rock solid support I always relied on and trusted enough to pull me through. Looking back, it is mind blowing to see how we have molded each other for the better and how our relationship has matured into something beautiful. Relationships thrive on three important rules – love, trust and patience. Between two completely different people, there are bound to be tons of conflicts and misunderstandings. But with some effort and understanding, we can make it work. There is a popular saying which states that the power of your belief is enough to make all the miracles in the world. Somewhere around the 8th year of our relationship, we decided to break the news to our families. We feared the reaction, but our love and belief was strong enough to make anything possible. So, when we finally told our families, they accepted us with open arms. It was exhilarating to say the least. Now, we are equally excited to set on this new adventure together. We would go to any length to save our relationship and all that we have built over the years. We got lucky and I have been eternally blessed at having a person like him by my side.”
