“In the blink of an eye, our lives took an unexpected turn. On that day we were travelling from my native to Chennai after celebrating the Pongal festival. Little did we know that our lives would change forever.
An Accident!
The accident, caused by a careless and drunk man, took away my dear husband from us instantly. He was spot dead.
Amidst the chaos and confusion, my son’s fate was uncertain. Thankfully, some kind of people rushed him to the hospital and he managed to hold on to life. I also had injuries – my right hand and leg were broken. My daughter survived significant injuries. Despite the pain, I found strength within myself, a determination that came from deep inside my heart.
After 21 days of being in the hospital unconscious, I came to know about my husband’s demise. I did not know how to react.
The days that followed were a blur of pain, tears, and feeling emotionally numb. Learning about my husband’s passing brought a deep sense of emptiness, a pain that felt almost unbearable. But even during my toughest moments, I felt a strong desire to be strong, not only for myself but for my children as well. And so, with a strong resolve, I embraced the challenges that lay ahead. Back then my husband was the breadwinner, but after his absence, I took his place as well.
With metal plates in my right hand and leg, I defied the odds and learned to drive an auto. Every time I drove, it was a sign of my newfound courage and determination. My son and daughter, healing alongside me, drew strength from my daily encouragement. Together, we navigated the difficult journey of grief and healing.
Time went by, and as the years passed, our lives began to take shape once again. My son’s dream of becoming a part of the Navy burned brightly within him, a shining example of hope for our family. His dedication and hard work were a wonderful tribute to his father’s memory.
As we rebuilt our lives, I discovered a new purpose – helping other women become independent. By teaching them to drive auto, I gave them the tools to overcome challenges and stand on their own feet.
Life’s uncertainty was a reminder that each moment is precious, and everything can change suddenly.
We can’t predict what’s ahead, but how we react to life’s difficulties defines us. And so, I keep moving forward, not just as an auto driver but as a symbol of hope, living proof of the power we have within us.”
