“I’m a Visual Communication student with an aspiration to become an artist in the media industry.
One of my uncles turned out to grow familiarly in the Cinema industry, fortunately. His presence in the field made it a little easier for me to dive into my passion.
The ‘Axess Film Factory’ which he formed has produced and constructed a lot of ideas, resources and films. We’ve produced all good Tamil films such as Maragadha Naanayam, Iravukku Aayiram Kangal, Ratsasan, Oh My Kadavule, Bachelor and so on.
Perhaps I would want to get exposed to enough of the filmmaking experience. And so, I decided to work in all departments, especially in the production team. I had got the opportunity to visit the sets of different films to understand the making and the process of films. The process of filmmaking is, of course, a tedious one, but when we understand the ground reality and the public’s expectations and anticipation towards the story or the actors, the results are much more predictable.
I dedicated myself to learning the structure of each film. Although I spent the most time in the post-production for the films, I never missed checking out the other factors as well.
I worked as an executive producer in Maragadha Naanayam, Iravukku Aayiram Kangal, Ratsasan, Oh My Kadavule, Bachelor and so on. My responsibilities were to assemble, package and construct the shoot properly, to check and fix schedules and dates, discover locations and make sure it’s fixed for the scene, take care of the actors’ call sheets, budgets, programs, etc.
While being the bridge between the director and the producer, I realised the satisfactory attributes needed on either side. I assumed how to pitch in to release a safe movie and comprehended what will work in and out.
Not just that, I worked in one of the famous OTT series – ‘November Story’ and got recognized for my role. While working on the ‘Bachelor’ project, I got this opportunity to work for Nanban Oruvan Vandha Piragu from Ananth Sir, for which I’m very thankful.
This made me take the strong decision on becoming an actor. I wasn’t chained towards becoming only a hero or carrying the main role, I was also so much inclined to play any significant character.
Though I had an interest in acting, this position of mine being an executive producer did not allow me to thrive in the acting lane. People usually looked upon me as a senior (positioned) person and pondered over offering me even a supporting role.
I would love to be an artist rather than a hero! All I wished was to impact the audiences through my acting skills, be it a side role or the main role.”
